Draw Near

And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.

Hebrews 10:19

Through Christ draw ever near,
approaching without vain,
in awe and reverent fear.

In Him we persevere,
His mercy will sustain,
through Christ draw ever near.

He stores up every tear,
and heals us through our pain.
In awe and reverent fear,

with open ears to hear,
the grace that falls like rain,
through Christ draw ever near.

Our conscience sprinkled clear,
true hearts are His domain.
In awe and reverent fear,

and in our faith sincere,
we boldly come again,
through Christ draw ever near,
in awe and reverent fear.

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:22

  1. This goes right along with what my husband has been preaching and teaching about in church. We all need to draw nearer to Jesus. Thanks for sharing.

    Blessings,

  2. Beautiful poem. Comforting, too. I couldn’t help but hear “Be Near” by Shane and Shane in my mind while reading this. Ever heard it? Thought I’d share the lyrics.

    “Be Near”
    Shane Bernard

You are all, big and small beautiful
And wonderful to trust in grace through faith
    But I’m asking to taste
For dark is light to you
    Depths are height to you
Far is near but Lord I need to hear from you

Be near oh God Be near oh God of us
You’re nearness is to us our good
Be near oh God Be near oh God of us
You’re nearness is to us our good
    Our good

Your fullness is mine (Your fullness is mine)
    Revelation divine (Revelation divine)
But oh to taste, to know much more than a page
    To feel your embrace
For dark is light to you
    Depths are height to you
Far is near but Lord I need to hear from you

Be near oh God Be near oh God of us
You’re nearness is to us our good
Be near oh God Be near oh God of us
You’re nearness is to us our good

Be near oh God Be near oh God of us
You’re nearness is to us our good
Be near oh God Be near oh God of us
You’re nearness is to us our good
    My good

    Hi David,

Those are beautiful lyrics, thanks for sharing. I had not heard of Shane and Shane but I just found their MySpace page. I am listening to “Vision of You” right now. They have a very soothing sound. I notice they are playing in Belton on Nov 9th. Are you going?

    God Bless,
    Scotti

  3. I’ll be getting back from Atlanta late that evening, so I will not be able to attend. I missed “Casting Crowns” recently, too! Oh well…I’ll catch one some day!

  4. Greetings. Jesus is our strong tower and haven of rest. A sure foundation when all else is in transition. Thanks for a reminder that we all need daily; to draw closer to Jesus.

Have a blessed day in Christ.

Yes, timbob, Praise His Holy Name!

  5. Praise God for His grace that we are able to draw near and lay our burdens at his feet! Beautiful Scotti. This is a wonderful poetry type and I will have to try it.

Yes, Lana, praise the Lord for His grace!

  6. Oh, Scotti, thank you so much for this, I have to ad this to my personal favorites.

Thanks, Cami. We serve an amazing Lord! What a privilege we have to draw close into a relationship with the creator and sustainer of the universe. Blessings, Scotti
