Sweet songbird of dawn and dusk,
your cheery tune is like a grateful heart
that won’t be silenced.
with a distinct and festive hymn,
whistling a morning melody,
beckoning the rising sun,
in the comfort of a shade tree.
singing your evening lullaby,
inviting the starry night,
with such a sense of purpose
and love’s perfect timing.
Just as the soulful songbirds
announce the return of Spring,
let our hearts sing to the Lord!
Making psalms with our lives,
ever joyous and thankful,
exuding a never-ending praise
for our Blessed Hope.
While we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. Titus 2:13-14

Welcome back, Scottie!
This poem is beautiful! I love the birds and their joyous melody – ever praising their Creator.
Hi Scotti. Welcome to the Lindenville Cafe. I’m enjoying reading your poetry.
I love that scripture in Titus. “Making psalms with our lives”–oh, yes, Holy Spirit, make it real in us!
Praising him with a heart filled with a blessed hope. Blessings on you Scotti…
By the way, it was even more beautiful reading this with Come Thou Fount playing in the background!
Several times a week, when the weather and time permits, I go outside and sit to pray and read the bible. I sit there and listen to the birds and I watch as then fly from one tree to another. As i sit there in God’s beautiful creation, it makes me worship Him more. Your beautiful poem captured how I feel when I am outside.
Hi Scotti, I love the sound of the songbirds. We hear them all day long, as I have birdfeeders in our yard. I make this offering just to have them come and bring their songs. This poem is absolutely lovely. Yes, what a blessed hope we have. I forgot to say last time how much I LOVE your music. Next time you come to my blog, look under hymns for a YouTube I posted a bit ago of “Come Thou Fount.” I think you’ll like it.
Also, I want to thank you for that link you gave me to information about the family in Turkey.
Another beautiful poem! May we all aspire to live our lives in such a way that it is like beautiful music to the Lord. Have a blessed weekend.
Yay–a new poem to inspire and encourage us!! It is beautiful and well worth the wait!
Sorry that says “Ned”–my husband was messing with my new computer. The post is really from me.
Have a blessed week Scotti,
Thank you for all your gracious comments. I added a gorgeous photo to this page of a nightingale. I found the photo on Flickr. Check out the photo credit link for some more amazing photos by ConsolationNo3.
Also, I have added some family photos on the right side of my blog page along with some new videos and links to check out.
I have read few peoms that so concisely summerize the beauty of devotion – especially one which so aptly draws from nature. Goes to show that discipleship surrounds us, even in the animal kingdom. Keep up the good work!
Some of my most peaceful, prayerful and moments closest to Christ come when I am in nature. No better place to be than in the beauty of God’s creation. This poem brought back memories of the many lunches I spent in the beautiful arboretum near Memorial Park in Houston. Peace in the midst of chaos.
Greetings. It’s hard to add to all of the previous comments, however, there’s definately something special about being out in the creation as all is Gods handiwork and testifies of a most wonderful creator. We live in a rural setting with fields and large patches of woodlands scattered throughout. And dark star-filled nights when ome can look up and it’s almost as though you’re instantly transported into heavenly places. This is another great poetic work.
Have a blessed evening in Christ.
