This is beautiful. And I love the way you explain the type of poetry it is, and then give scriptures to meditate on… Really good.
Really nice blog… I don’t much read peoples blogs as I spend most of my internet reading time on apologetic boards. Your poetry is wonderful.
Please email me as I think we know each other.
Have a blessed day.

Siddhartha found tranquility
He learned to let things be
Govinda went on striving
In his quest he could not see
I am as both
Duality exists within my core
As closer I get to myself
I see it all the more
Then why this life
Inherent strife
What purpose does it serve
What can be learned if blinded by
The passing of h’ors derves
When the feast
That final rest
When shall I attain
That ageless Grace
And see the face
Of God to Whom I strain

I’ve been surfing blogs today and yours blows me away. My writing is more didactic–and a I have a limited experience with journalism. Nevertheless, poetry quickens something and your work is truly impressive. Would it be okay to include you in my blogroll?

Can a Christian Know for Sure ?
Dear Christians ,
How can you know for sure you are saved when Jesus himself
made statements declaring we are headed for Hell ?
For Example :
” But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to the hell of fire . ” Matthew 5:22
Surely most of us have said bad words now and then , therefore according to Jesus , most of us will taste the Fires of Hell and are not Free from punishment according to Jesus .
Jesus made several statements implanting uncertainty in the hearts and minds of his listeners regarding their Salvation
For Example :
” Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father
who is in heaven . ” Matthew 7:21
If Jesus is our Savior , why would he say calling upon him as ‘Lord’ on the Day of Judgement will Not Save Us ?
Jesus even told a entire generation that there is No Escape
from Hell for them, and what they have done will be with them:
“..How can ye escape the damnation of Hell? Wherefore,
behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes:
and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them
shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the *blood of Innocent Abel* unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew
between the temple and the altar. *Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation* .” Mt 23:33-36
How can a Christian be sure they are saved when Jesus repeatedly says that with a sinning eye or a sinning hand , We Will Go to Hell , Jesus even offers a remedy by suggesting we cut off our hand or pluck out our eye to avoid Hell , this certainly leaves the listeners Unsure if they will go to Hell or not unless they take drastic measures :
” And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire ” Mark 9:47
” And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched ” Mark 9:43
Jesus even says you will be cast into Hell if you do not behave in accordance with the Will of God :
” And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. ” Matthew 3:10
” Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. ” Matthew 7:19
How many Christians live undisciplined lives , producing bad fruit and expecting Jesus will save them ? How can they be sure when Jesus makes it perfectly clear they will go to Hell ?
Jesus is saying Every Sinner will be cast into the Fire .
Where does Jesus say every sinner will be saved through the
blood of Jesus ?
Even at the Supper table , Jesus said his blood is shed for _many_ not , all .
It even seems as though Jesus came to Warn us about Hell rather than save us from Hell, Jesus came to give us Uncertainty of our Salvation:
” I have come to cast a fire on the earth; and what will I if already it has been kindled? ” Luke 12:49
Jesus also directly warns that if you do not obey him, you will be thrown into Hell:
” Unless any one abide in me he is cast out as the branch,
and is dried up; and they gather them and cast them into the
fire, and they are burned. ” John 15:6 (also John 5:24)
According to the Gospel, it is possible to fall out of the Christian faith through sin;
“For how can those who abandon their faith be brought back to repent again? They were once in God’s light; they tasted heaven’s gift and received their share of the Holy Spirit; they knew from experience that God’s word is good, and they had felt the powers of the coming age. And then they abandoned their faith! It is impossible to bring them back to repent again, because they are again crucifying the Son of God and exposing him to public shame.” (Hebrews 6:4-6)
and that Christians are not fully saved until they enter the heavenly kingdom ( 1 Peter 1:4-5)
Even in the Old Testament , there is Absolute Uncertainty if we will go to Hell or not :
There is a prediction in Psalms that the Sinners will go to Hell, similar to what Jesus says:
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the (nations) that forget God.” Ps 9:17
Does this include all with in the evil nations such as Germany in WW!! ? or America during Hiroshima etc.. ?
In Isaiah which we assume predicted Jesus , also predicts
Hell will take even the people who are boastful :
” Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth
without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and
their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it .”
Isaiah 5:14
In conclusion , “Let him who thinks he stands take care lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12).
We see that Jesus did not come to remove _all_ sin, but in fact to warn us of Hell and assist us in receiving forgiveness, but certainly not removing our responsibility to obey the commandments “otherwise we will be thrown into Hell” as Jesus continuously warned.
Even at the sacrifice where the crucifixion of Jesus was supposedly a action to forgive the human race, why would
Jesus ask God “Forgive them fore they know not what they do”
if the crucifixion was indeed the Ultimate sacrifice ? Why
would Jesus need to ask God to forgive us if the assumed
shedding of Jesus’s blood was in fact a means of atonement ?
Unless perhaps the crucifixion was not a ultimate method of
forgiveness and in fact we are very much in danger of Hell
as it is written in the Old Testament and the Gospel of Jesus .
How then can we be saved if we are still in danger of the
Hell Fire as Jesus warns ?
Allah (which means – God – in the Semitic Arabic language)
gives us many clear signs in the Holy Quran to assure us we will
be saved , Allah clarifies the Favours bestowed upon us and
in return Allah only asks you believe in the Day of Judgement , in those Allah sent to us (including Jesus) and follow the teachings of the Quran .
” Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and
establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have
their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor
shall they grieve . ” Translation of the Holy Quran 2:277

Murgeburo,
Thank you for taking the time to comment on this blog. I appreciate all of your questions and the opportunity to respond.
I also had many questions about heaven and hell and those questions led me to open my heart to the Truth of the Gospel. God does not expect me to be perfect, in fact He knows quite well that I can never be perfect. He knows my fears, He knows my doubts, he knows my weak points and yet, He still loves me unconditionally. Romans 5:8 of the Holy Bible says: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit (One God, Three persons) is not just judge and creator. He is intimate, He is personal, and He lives in the believer. We do not need to earn his love, we cannot earn his love.
The Lord Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. He is fully God and fully man. He lived a perfect and sinless life and He willingly laid down His life for the sins of the world. He took all the wrath due towards sinners and took it upon Himself.
It is such a mind blowing mystery that our God would leave the heavens to take on the form of a man so that he could partake of our sufferings and offer Himself as the spotless lamb, the ultimate and eternal sacrifice for our sins! It may not fit with our understanding of the world, but God can do anything He wishes! Why would He do this? He died for us because He loves us! As stated in Hebrews 2:17 “Therefore He had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”
After His death and miraculous resurrection, the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and presented His blood at heaven’s alter and He sat down. He is able to sit down because His Work is finished… atonement has been offered. Grace has already been given at the cross – now we must search with our hearts and ask God to show us the Truth. We must realize that we are sinners in need of salvation and then accept His shed blood to cover our sin. Ephesians 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
Murgeburo, eternal life is a gift from God. It cannot be earned! It must be received by faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 states “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” It is true that on the last day we will all be judged and no man can find their way into heaven based on their own merit only by God’s grace.
There is not one of us that is righteous enough to meet God’s standard of holiness. On a scale of good deeds, 51% goodness is not good enough. Romans 3:23-25 reads “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed.”
You bring up rightly the problem with sin. Certainly, I still struggle with sin and temptation, as everyone does, but I now have the peace of knowing I have a loving Savior and Redeemer who will comfort me and lead me on the eternal path. He has given me a new heart that makes me painfully aware of my sin. This awareness of the sin in my life brings me to my knees before the Lord in reverence and repentance.
Romans 8:1 says: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
Studying God’s Word and implementing His teachings into my life helps me to endure trials and holdfast to His promises. 1 John 1:9-10 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”
The Lord Jesus Christ has shed His own blood in your stead. Praise His Holy Name! That is good news! Ask Jesus to apply His blood to your life. A truly repentant heart is heard by God and He will give you new life and His Spirit will dwell in you!
Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Murgeburo, Jesus loves you and He is waiting for you with open arms.
May the grace, peace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Murgeburo,
Justification and salvation come through Christ alone and why we can be certain of this. I will add a little to this and also speak on some other reasons why Christ alone is to be trusted for salvation.
The man Jesus Christ was born to a virgin called Mary or Miriam if you are hebrew of arabic speaking. Her husband was Joseph a man who was of the lineage of David and of the tribe of Judah. This means that Jesus was legally a descendant of David and of Judah and Jacob, Isaac and Abraham. Now Abram was moved by God from his homeland in Ur in Chaldea to the land of Canaan. God promised to Abram (later renamed Abraham) a son, this son would be born to his barren wife who was well into old age. In due time God fulfilled his promise by allowing Abraham’s first wife Sarah (to whom the child of promise was to come through) to have a son born from her own body. This son was Isaac who was heir to the promise of God and the covenants given to Abraham. From Isaac came two sons; twins called Esau and Jacob. Before they were born God selected Jacob to be the heir of the promises and covenants given to Abraham and Jacob. It was not by human birth that the promises were to be transfered by but God’s choosing through the seed of Isaac who came through the promise of God to Abraham and Sarah. So in his Sovereignty God chose Jacob. From Jacob came forth sons, 11 of whom tribes were named after the 12th tribe was made up of the descendants of two of Jacob’s grandson’s; Ephraim and Mannessah. These twelve tribes settled in Lower Egypt, specifically the Nile Delta. They lived amongst the Egyptians for 400 years, and eventually because they were put into bondage God in his Sovereignty freed them from Egypt by the hand of Moses.
Now through Moses the children of Israel were freed from Egypt. God used all sorts of plagues to wage war on the Egyptians that their king may free God’s people. Eventually on the day of passover, God commanded that each house hold use the blood of a lamb to smear blood on the sides of their doors and the lintels of the door also. And so they did following that commmand and others. The Egyptians however did no such thing, and at midnight God sent the destroyer into the land and the firstborn of all Egypt died. Peasant, King and rich, even animals lost their firstborn. And because of the severity of this last strike from God, the Egyptians relented and let the children of Israel go. And so they were led into the wilderness, and eventually found themselves at the seashore with only Egypt behind them and the sea in front of them. The King of Egypt in his hard heartedness followed after them and sought to take them back forcibly. It is at this time that God who was leading them in a pillar of fire went to their back and blocked the King of Egypt. God then had a strong wind part the seas so that the children of Israel passed through the water. What is amazing is that The Messenger of YHWH who had appeared to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the very One who appeared to Moses and also protected the nation of Israel as they crossed the sea. This Messenger when by the very Name of God; YHWH. So how could God be God in heaven and yet walk the surface of the earth with human beings like Abraham, wrestle with Jacob, appear to Isaac and speak to Moses? Genesis 18 and Genesis 32 both clearly call this messenger of God, God himself! How is this possible? Exodus 14:19-20 clearly shows this.
The people of God then came to Mount Sinai where God appeared to the whole nation in Glory at the top of Sinai. From their he thundered the 10 commandments and gave Moses the Torah. It was at Sinai that a Covenant between God and the people was ratified through the blood of oxen and other animals through Moses. This Covenant promised blessings to those under it if they obeyed it completely. If they however failed to completely obey it, various curses would befall the people. Deuteronomy 6:25 “ And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us.” So righteousness through the Law was by works. In the case of sin various ritual sacrifices could be made to atone for sins. But these had to be done again and again. The blood of animals could not permanently atone for sins and neither could the Law change the nature within men.
And so because of this weakness of the Holy and Perfect Law, a weakness that exists because of human sin. No man could be justified and so God in his Grace foretold in the Law that one day he would give people new hearts (Deuteronomy 30:6, Ezekiel 11:19 and Ezekiel 36:22among others), and in the prophets he spoke of how he would put his Spirit into men (Ezekiel 36:27). He spoke of how He would send his servant to give Himself as a sacrifice for the sins of many. That through the sacrifice of this servant people would be justified from sins. He spoke of how this servant of His, The Messiah would suffer (psalm 22, Zechariah 12:10) and eventually die for others and be raised up from the grave (Isaiah 53, psalm 16:10 and Zechariah 12:10)
Zechariah 12:10
“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.
Deuteronomy 18:15-16
The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him. For this is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.”
Leviticus 19:17
‘Do not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt.
Here brother speaks of a Jewish person or any one who joined their nation to be like them as this is who God was specifically giving this ordinance to. Later Jesus revealed that your neighor is any one, but your brother is one who shares in the faith in YHWH specifically. And so from the nation of Israel a Prophet like Moses was expected. Now there are a few things about Moses which allowed the people to know who this prophet who would come amongst them would be. First he had to be jewish, second he had to be a mediator between God and the people of God; this means he had to ratify a Covenant like Moses did by blood. Third this prophet had to be one who God used to do miracles, he also had to be One who spoke to God Face to Face and whom God publically acknowledged as His Servant. God acknowledged Moses as His servant when there was a rebellion and the dissident Korah was swallowed up by the earth in the sight of many (Numbers 16:32). He was also acknowledged as God’s Servant by God himself proclaiming to Aaron and Miriam that Moses was his servant.
Numbers 12:4-8
“At once the LORD said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, “Come out to the Tent of Meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them came out. Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the Tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When both of them stepped forward, he said, “Listen to my words:
“When a prophet of the LORD is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams. But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house.
Now just as Moses was a mediator so to was Jesus. Just as Moses ratified a Covenant between God and man, so to did Jesus. Just as Moses judged the people of Israel so to does Jesus sit as King and judge over Israel and all the universe. Just as Moses spoke to God face to face, so to did God the Son speak to His Father face to face and become a man to speak forth the words of God. Furthermore just as Moses was lauded as God’s choice, so to was Jesus Christ lauded by God before men, at his baptism, before three of his disciples (luke 9:18-36, Matthew 17) as well as before a multitude of people (John 12: 28). So it is clear that Jesus is the servant of God on whom God would put His Spirit, even Moses had the Spirit of God on Him too. So clearly Jesus is the Prophet who was to come.
Scriptures like Genesis 18, Genesis 32, Exodus 3, Exodus 14, Exodus 23, Exodus 33, Ezekiel 1, Judges 13, Judges 6, Samuel 3, Isaiah 6, Isaiah 9, Isaiah 63, Zechariah 3 and Psalm 45 all testify of the Plurality in which God exists. There is One God, YHWH and there are thre persons within the One Godhead. God is three persons and yet one. The scriptures above reveal that One called the Messenger of YHWH bore the very Name of YHWH and is fully regarded by the ancient scriptures as God himself, and yet there is a mystery; this Messenger is God himself and yet sent by God. Isaiah 9 then speaks of how a child would be born who would be called Mighty God, Jeremiah 23 calls Him YHWH our Righteousness. So this person who is One with God and is God came forth from God and at many times appeared to different men in the ancient days. He then finally permanently took on the human form and was named Jesus Christ. It is He of whom the Prophets said He would reign as Anointed King Psalm 2. It is him who is called the Prophet who was to come and he came according to Moses because the people feared to look upon God and hear Him. So the very One whom them feared to hear because of the greatness of his voice became a man and taught men and died for men and was raised up as scripture said he would (psalm 16, Isaiah 53). Because he was sinless he was the perfect sacrificial lamb and he gave himself as a propitiation for sins. And his blood atones for all a man’s sins and covers them all, no more need for sacrifices to be offered again and again to no avail. Further more he gives his believers new hearts such that they love God and worship Him in Spirit and In Truth because He pours His Spirit into them and upon them. And the sin nature will be eternally done away with when He calls believers up to Himself and glorifies them so that they have bodies like His Glorious one. He makes salvation possible through His Sacrifice. The prophets foretold it and the apostles beheld it. The abundance of witnesses for the death and resurrection of Christ is enough to certify the truthfulness of scripture.
The Law was weak in that human beings sinned, but this was allowed by God to show how sinful men are. To show that no man can be flawless under His Righteous Requirements, all fall short. Jesus however became a man that He might fulfill the righteous requirements on our behalf and give himself as a sacrifice for our sins and rise up fromt he dead. He also brought in a New Covenant with better promises that that one ratified under Moses. Through Jesus God and men have peace, He is the sole mediator and intercessor between God and Man. He is King over the Universe as God and inherits the Throne of David and brings forth salvation through His Humanity. The prophets are clear and we know what they wrote for we have their writings written by them according to God’s direction in our Bible’s. The Quran can save no man for first and foremost God did not foretell that a prophet who would bring forth another Law contrary to His own would come forth to teach his people. The Torah, Prophets and Writings are clear in that God is One and yet three persons; Namely The Messenger of The Presence, God and the Spirit of God who are One for they indwell Oneanother. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of The Messenger of the Presence and the Spirit of God himself bears personhood. Yes this is a great mystery but the Ancient prophets did foretell it, to deny this is to deny God’s Nature. A Prophet of God can not do this. Also if the Law was weak because of human nature and the failure to obey it to the letter, why if God was going to replace it would he replace it with another Law that is based on personal merit and righteousness and is weak because of the same reason. Clearly that would be redundant. The Torah is Holy and perfect and so because under it all stand as condemned the only way to Save those who are sinners would be to justify them, a principle that the Torah both outlines through its rituals of sacrifice. These rituals point to what God would do through Messiah, the Torah as such does two great things. First it reveals that all are under sin and are sinners in need of God’s mercy if they are to ever know eternal life. Second it shows the pattern through which God would save human beings. Through the sacrifice of the innocent through the shedding of blood, for the Torah is clear about this in Leviticus 17:10. And so because of this we know that the only way to be saved is through the Promised Messiah who was revealed to us all as Jesus Christ through his fulfillment of various prophecies. And this salvation in Him is sure as Scotti has outlined using the New Testament scriptures. Muhammad could not be the prophet who is to come and so the Quran can save no man, Muhammad was not a Jew. He was not born of the tribe of Judah and of the lineage of David and so could not be the prophet who is to come which is clearly the Messiah; the Saviour of the world. As such I implore you to trust in Messiah Jesus for if you believe in Him you will be saved. Follow Him. For as sure as Christ died and rose again, those who believe in Him are saved and are counted as righteous through Him. There is no shaky ground, the certainty of hell is for those who do not believe in Him and follow Him in faith and love. Judgement day will come, but only those who belong to Messiah shall live eternally with Him.
May God’s Grace and Love be poured out to you according to the riches of His Mercy in Jesus Christ through whom redeption and eternal Life is found.
Murgeburo,
Also please read John 10:25-30 regarding the gurantee of salvation for those who belong to God and are his in Christ.
“Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father’s name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
I stumbled across your poem as I was looking for poems to put into our church bulletin. I would absolutely LOVE to include your Holy Spirit poem in this week’s bulletin. I wanted to get your permission first. I think it is very inspiring. If you’d rather me not, that’s fine. It has been a blessing for me to read it.
Hold Fast is so precious for us now, a two-year-old in our congregation has passed, and with joy I sent this poem to his father. Praise God for gifts He has given to us, and so much grace through His Son, but most of all because He is worthy.
Brother Paul.
I tried to contact you once and for some reason, it did not go through.
I read your poem about the Holy Spirit and wanted to use it in our church bulletin if that is ok.
thanks
Diane
