Morning Star Poetry

Light Shall Shine Out of Darkness!

Sifted

Ground up and shaken,
Separating weeds and stone.
All chaff and no wheat?

Poetry Type: Haiku

Zephaniah 2:1-2a Gather together, yes, gather, O shameless nation, before the decree takes effect –before the day passes away like chaff– (ESV)

Luke 22:31-32 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” (NKJV)

Psalm 1:3-4 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. (NKJV)

  1. Oh Lord, may some wheat be found! May I not be all chaff and no wheat!

Thought provoking and convicting! I have been reading Real Christianity and that was been prodding me as well. Good stuff!

  2. Scotti, what a wonderful gift you have with words. What a blessing it brings, as well. This is also true no matter how challenging and provocative it at some moments seems to be.

Every Blessing in the Lord Jesus Christ!

  3. The sifting is a very real thing, and it is an active process now. My prayers are focused on seeing God’s best realized in my own heart and in the lives of those I pray for in His name. It is, in fact, my passion. Thank you for sharing this. I so appreciate your heart.

  4. I’m afraid there’s more chaff than wheat right now. Might as well throw in a few stones and weeds, too. It’s amazing how much can be said with so few words. Praying for the Lord to cultivate a pure heart in me.

  5. I want to be a fruitful Christian, and I pray that God would see some wheat when He looks at my life. I like the simplicity of haikus and have enjoyed writing many of them too. Thank you for this poem.

    Blessings,

    Carol

  6. Good poem, Scotti!

I hope and pray that God sifts out all the chaff in my life before His appearing so that I may be found faithful at his return. I have far to go, but the Lord is so faithful when we truly seek Him with all of our hearts! I believe He is doing a quick work now because the days are short. Praise Him for His mercy and unfailing love that He would take us and sift us so that we may be rid of all sin and shame, as a bride without spot or wrinkle when He returns for us. I pray that God makes me holy without spot before Him so that I will be counted worthy to be clothed in white!! (all by the grace and glory of God alone!)
