Light Shall Shine Out of Darkness!

Merciful High Priest

My friends, God has chosen you to be his holy people. So think about Jesus, the one we call our apostle and high priest.

Hebrews 3:1 (CEV)

By Your death we are delivered
From bondage into light,
Holding fast to our confession,
We walk by faith not sight.

Exalted above the heavens,
Dear merciful High Priest,
Our sins You have removed from us,
In You, we keep the feast.

Sympathetic to our weakness,
You hear our every cry,
Ever living to intercede,
Your love’s in great supply.

Man of sorrows, You share our grief,
And with us You do weep.
Our living advocate on high,
Awaken us from sleep.

Sitting in eternal glory,
Your perfect work is done.
You turned away God’s wrath from us,
O, Holy, Blameless One.

To fix our thoughts on You, O Lord,
There is no greater thing.
Set free from sin by Your own blood,
It’s to Your cross we cling.

Hebrew 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

1 Corinthians 5:7-9 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

  1. This poetic cry from your heart is extremely beautiful and timely! “In You, we keep the feast” – May we continually feast on Him even when in the barrren wasteland. He IS enough!

  2. I’m glad that Jesus, the great high priest is touched by the feelings of our infirmities. He understands our weaknesses and is there to give us strength and help. He truly is an awesome God! Happy Memorial Day.

  3. What a beautiful website! I love this poem -it is beautiful- and these scriptures! I look forward to reading through this lovely site. Hebrews is my favorite NT book, with all the lovliness of Jesus -who He is, and what He did for us to bring us to God. Thank you Jesus.

Praise Jesus! He is our High Priest!
The very least we can do for him is to share him with others.
