Holy Spirit

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

john 14:26

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
Oh blessed trinity
One living God divinely three
King for eternity

You make of me Your dwelling place
You guide me in all truth
Anoint my life for serving You
Erase my sins of youth

Pour into me and fill me up
Your love I can’t deny
You search me through and know my thoughts
Of Christ You testify

You teach me how to yield each day
And make the holy choice
My breath of life, flow through me now
You are my still small voice

You know me more than I myself
And lead me by the hand
You counsel me in ways of life
To help me understand

Bestowing me with gifts unearned
Defending me from sin
Like mighty wind, expose my guilt
Restore me from within

My praise for You will never cease
Be my one desire
I’m sealed until redemption day
Warmed by holy fire

You claim me as a child of God
Always there to witness
You comfort me and ease the pain
Healed by Your holy kiss

Renewing as the latter rain
Your love is so immense
Regenerating hearts for Christ
With fruitful evidence

The stamp of Your eternal pledge
Proves purchase at a price
Your gift of grace is free for all
By faith in Jesus Christ

John 14:17 The Spirit will show you what is true. The people of this world cannot accept the Spirit, because they don’t see or know him. But you know the Spirit, who is with you and will keep on living in you.

John 15:26 I will send you the Spirit who comes from the Father and shows what is true. The Spirit will help you and will tell you about me.

John 16:13-14 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.  He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.

Ephesians 1:13 Christ also brought you the truth, which is the good news about how you can be saved. You put your faith in Christ and were given the promised Holy Spirit to show that you belong to God.

Hosea 6:3 Let’s do our best to know the LORD.  His coming is as certain as the morning sun; he will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime.

  3. Wonderful words.

But. How do we receive Him so that all of this is utterly real, a daily experience, all day. Not just head knowledge, but a true experience like the disciples had.

  8. Ruach

We have love enough for the Father
    Who gave His only Son
And we have love to give the Word
    Whose ransom our salvation won
    But what about the Spirit,
The anonymous One of the Three?
    Yahwah & Yeshua had names
But the Spirit was rarely called ”He.”
    Giving freely of His wisdom
When we needed it to grow
So perhaps His time is soon to come
Like the breeze which has yet to blow.

  9. Ruakh is a Hebrew word
    That’s given to a h dry wind
It blows out of the desert lands
To the alleys where weve sinned

Ruakh, at times, a soft gentle breeze
At times a passion driven power
    Who’ll go anywhere he’ll please
Where a prophet would feel a Holy Power
With more energy than hot desert rocks
To fuel the prophet by the hour

So, sometimes Ruakh was a name
That men would call the Holy Spirit
When He’d blow a prophet in from desert sands
To warn us of the pain bought with sin
And the dangerous pit that we were falling in

For too many drinks or the illusion of a drug
Feel good until we see … what a grave we’ve dug
And the pleas and rants of our family & friends
Fall on deaf ears as we head for bitter ends

But the faintest whisper of the Holy Spirit
Can scorch muffling demons off each ear
And penetrate the gates of hell
So that demon legions run in fear.
