Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Forsake us not, O Lord
Rescue all who despair
Forsake us not, O Lord.
Our weak faith gasps for air
Pain has taken its toll
Rescue all who despair.
Please say unto the soul
“I am your Salvation”
Pain has taken its toll.
In our desperation
You bring to remembrance
Your name IS Salvation!
Rescued by second chance
Held in Your mighty hand
You bring to remembrance,
Your mercy for our land.
Forsake us not, O Lord
Hold us in Your right hand
Forsake us not, O Lord.

A good poem and a good prayer for our nation. He will certainly heal our land if we as a people will humble ourselves before Him.
Thank you for your comments, Carol. I was reading Psalm 38 and that seems to be just what David is doing…humbling himself before the Lord, confessing his sins and asking the Lord not to forsake him. “The CH Spurgeon_May 25” related post above expounds more on this very Psalm.
I wonder why your avatar has changed. Did you remove your photo or do I need to change my settings? 🙂 WordPress has changed a few things during my short sabbatical!
One thing I love about your poetry is how very psalm-like they are. Praise God for ALL of the second chances He has given me and ALL of the second chances I’m sure I will need in the years to come. Or in the moments ahead for that matter! 🙂
Glad to see you are back, Scotti.
David.
Hi David,
Thanks for the visit and your words of wisdom. It is so awesome to realize that God’s mercy is new EVERY morning and that He loves us regardless of our weaknesses. Where would we be without second chances?
God Bless!
Scotti
Hi Scotti I am so thankful that God gave us so very many promises – He knew we were going to need them constantly. Inspired poem, as always.
Hi Sylvia, he did say, ‘I will never leave you or forsake you’! What an amazing spiritual truth to count on even in those times we feel far from God. Blessings! Scotti
Hi Scotti,
My avatar actually has not changed. My picture did not pop up, because I wasn’t logged in to WordPress when I came to your blog. If you don’t have a WordPress account or you’re not logged in, you automatically get a geometric design avatar that comes up instead of the little “shadow outline” that WordPress used to use.
Wow, I can pray this for so many people I know. It seems so many are in despair about the world today. Many ask me how I can be so positive and happy, and they don’t understand when I say I know Him!
Hi Scotti…another great piece of poetry. Thank you for dropping by — an expression of encouragement. Praying together for your land. Agape.
I come by here whenever I need a treat! Thank you again!

Lovely words, Scotti… Hope you are well… Blessings to you..
It’s been this long since I last checked on your blog! The Lindenville Forum has taken up all my internet time, and I see I’ve missed priceless treasures here. I add my “Amen,” and my intercessions for our land to this poem. God bless you, Scotti.
