New Book: Rescue in the Holocaust

Hi Blogging Friends!

I am excited to announce that I have published a book based on the true story of my Grandfather’s life.

Myles Standish,  served as Chief of Visas at the U.S. Consulate in Marseille, France, from 1937 to 1941. During that time, he worked closely with Hiram Bingham, Varian Fry, and many others to help stateless refugees escape Europe under the Vichy and Nazi regimes. He personally rescued the novelist Lion Feuchtwanger from the Les Milles internment camp and brought him to safety at Hiram Bingham’s villa until he could leave France.

After leaving the State Department, Myles joined the War Refugee Board, where his work spanned refugee escape, immigration policy, diplomatic negotiation, intelligence, security, field organization, transportation, statelessness, and postwar refugee policy.

Writing this book has been both a family journey and a historical one. I hope it helps bring renewed attention to the diplomats, rescue workers, and ordinary people who took extraordinary risks to help others escape persecution.

If this untold story resonates with you, I would be grateful if you would consider ordering the book or sharing it with friends, colleagues, or organizations interested in Holocaust history, refugee rescue, diplomacy, or World War II history. It is available on Amazon in hardcover, paperback, and digital formats.
