Autumn Tarries

You created the moon to tell us the seasons. The sun knows when to set. – Psalm 104:19

Summer lingers here in the south. I am still patiently waiting for the beautiful array of crimson-, amber-, and bronze-colored leaves waving like flags to signal the onset of winter. Instead, the trees proudly display their green canopies, and vibrant flowers still cover the landscape.

Although autumn tarries, there is no doubt it will arrive. There is a rhythm to God’s creation that is predictable. Just as the sun bows to the Lord each evening and the moon stands at His command to usher in the seasons.

Faithfully awaiting the transformation that brings cool air and anticipation for the holidays ahead. There is beauty in the transition from summer to fall that inspires me to reflect on God’s sovereignty over creation. Compelling me to be grateful for so many blessings.

God’s rhythmic order
in the falling of the leaves
beckons gratitude
