For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank of angels—everything got started in the Lord and finds its purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment.
Colossians 1:16-17
Strolling a northeastern shore at sunset with a glorious view of the Atlantic Ocean, salty wind blows and sand seeps between the toes. The water is cool as it splashes barren feet while persistent waves ebb and flow capturing inch by inch of the beach. Beach season is over so there are no crowds. The backdrop of the sky exudes brilliant hues of yellow, orange, and red melting together and reflecting off the sea. Jet black rocks, like jagged coal, jut upwards, creating a barrier that interrupts the flow of the waves towards the shore. The turbulence forms a frothy foam of white tips on the water. Palatial mansions situated high above the cliffs with the perfect view of the bay and the sailboats being pushed by the wind create an impressive silhouette against the setting sun. The distant city, steeped in colonial pride and military history, fades away along with the hustle and bustle of life. Thankful for the solitude. There is a sensation of becoming one with the earth. Overcome with a yearning to fly free with the seagulls and the piping plovers, soaring above it all. Eternal essence makes contact with the soul. Peace, soft and warm, settles deep. Giving thanks in the moment. The connection to nature is palatable, yet it is juxtaposed by a feeling of something so great, so immense, and so far beyond one’s self that the mind cannot comprehend its vastness. To feel so complete and grounded and yet so insignificant compared to the grandness of creation brings life into perspective. Ever thankful for the beauty of creation - showing God is here. Poetry type: Haibun, Prose, Haiku Written for the dVerse prompt.

You have done a beautiful haibun. Yes, it is hard to imagine that people can look at the wonders of creation and think there is no God… is just all happened somehow.

If we have a keen eye, listen carefully and feel the scent of nature there is plenty to be thankful for.

Very beautiful descriptive writing that ends on a note of praise. I understand a feeling a joy and peace juxtaposed with a feeling of being insignificant. Nature reveals the Creator.
