Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: โLook! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken.”
Isaiah 28:16
Israelโs shepherd and Israelโs stone,
promised Messiah, revealed and foretold,
Zion’s foundation, His glory is shown,
Israelโs shepherd and Israelโs stone.
Strong root of Jesse to graft in His own,
gathers His people and adds to His fold,
Israelโs shepherd and Israelโs stone,
promised Messiah, revealed and foretold.
Davidโs descendant now sits on the throne,
Israelโs shepherd and Israelโs stone,
Remnant of Jacob, you’re never alone,
Light to the nations, to have and to hold.
Israelโs shepherd and Israelโs stone,
Promised Messiah, revealed and foretold.

The repetition and cadence here–well, to use current language–they rock. If I read it several times, the beat continues to move me. And, of course, the content lifts up Jesus. What more can ask?

Very beautiful poem, Scotti. I’m so glad that Israel’s shepherd and stone chose to open the door of salvation to the Gentiles, when He came down to earth as a man and gave His life on Calvary. Now I can say He’s my shepherd and my stone. Thank you, Jesus!

This is a wonderful poem, Scotti!
I’ve only ever written one triolet–just for an exercise to see if I could do it. I really love this one–the rhythm is great, and the message comes through loud and clear as worship.
And thanks for dropping by my blog, too! It’s nice to see you there.
Love, Cindy

So good! Sooo good. Whimsicle like a triolet should be. A good line drawn from Old to New. Its repetition doesn’t come off as redudance, but rather as addition of layers.
Very nice, as always.
