Morning Star Poetry

Light Shall Shine Out of Darkness!

Idols

No servant is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (riches, or anything in which you trust and on which you rely).

Luke 16:14

Why serve an impersonal god unknown?
Or be a slave to an ignorant stone?
A living God human hands cannot make!
Will the stone arise or the wood awake?

Are you a servant of the Living God?
Or do you glorify a gold facade?
Serve a graven image of man’s device?
O, child of God, you were bought for a price!

The earthly, carnal pleasures of today,
Will always deceive and lead you astray.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me”.
All that you love more is idolatry.

Jesus was not just teacher and prophet,
He is the God of Heaven incarnate!
Without faith in Christ, we are devil’s pawns!
Trust in Him until the new day dawns.

The Light of the World will never grow dim.
All dominions will serve and obey Him.
At this very moment He intercedes,
On your behalf before God, Jesus pleads.

2 Peter 1:9 And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

  1. Greetings. Perfectly worded as always. We indeed serve a living God who inhabits eternity and yet numbers the hairs on our head. What an awesome Creator and an awesome salvation that we have through Jesus Christ.
Have a blessed weekend in Christ.

  2. I must admit that as much as I would whole-heartedly agree with what you shared here anyway, it is especially poignant to me because we have family members that actually think they CAN serve God & mammon. The blindness is terrifying, but thankfully, as you shared, Jesus Himself intercedes for us, and “The Light of the World with never grow dim.”

  3. I enjoyed this one. Think I’ll sit here one night with my 12-string and sing some of these poems. I wonder what King David used for an instrument? 😕

  4. Another nice poem. We were all made to worship. If we do not worship God, we will worship some”one” or some”thing”. Anything but worship of the Lord leaves up empty. God’s promise for us is eternal.

    Blessings,
    David.

  5. Idols were my subject a while ago as well…:) It’s rediculous when you think of what so many people believe in, when it’s something that had no honor, nothing to bring and nothing to live on… Any Idol is empty while God had blessed us with ALL HEAVENLY BLESSINGS!!! Even being part of these we need to be reminded… Why do we so easily leab on air when we have a ROCK to stand on???
