Washed Clean

Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.

Revelation 1:5

I do believe You’ve washed me clean
In faith there is no in between
With Him or against Him now
The gospel Truth contains this vow

Repentant faith brings peace serene
Yes, I believe You’ve washed me clean
It is Your Truth that sets me free
Trusting in Your tender mercy

You are so faithful to forgive
The risen Christ gives strength to live
Yes, I believe You’ve washed me clean
You give me hope in things unseen

Temporal flesh has numbered days
You help me to forget past ways
No longer slave to old routines
I do believe You’ve washed me clean

Hebrews 10:22  Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. (NLT)

Ephesians 4:22-24  Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness.  (AMP)

  1. AMEN! It’s amazing how the lord takes our past and tosses it into the sea of forgetfulness. We all had a day in which wew woke up in sin; contrary to God and went to be a new creation in Christ Jesus; the angels rejoicing over another soul that had come to repentance. Awesome concept and an awesome post.
Have a most blessed day and week:

  2. This is a poignant truth…I was sharing with a blood-bought believer recently about her guilt over past sins…I told her that God doesn’t even know what she’s beating herself up about: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He put our sins from us.” To believe that God has forgiven us, and then to live confidently as those forgiven, is what being a Believer is all about! Amen; washed clean!

Thanks for sharing this. I am reminded that this is an everyday cleansing, and we do this through his Word:
Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:17)

  4. I really love this poem. The struggle between our old natures and our new natures is what we’ve been discussing the past two Sundays, and this poem encapsulates that. I love the last stanza.

Also, thank you so much for your lovely comments on my blog. You really just made my day!
