The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the representation of His essence, and he sustains all things by his powerful word. – Hebrews 1:3
Where desert meets the sea,
leisure beckons the soul,
and rolling waves live free.
An arch of stone marquee
beneath blue skies console,
where desert meets the sea.
Cerulean esprit,
no le hace; the goal,
where rolling waves live free.
Cresting ocean beauty,
swallows the shoreline whole,
where desert meets the sea.
Among the cacti tree,
in Baja luz del sol,
where rolling waves live free.
As peace and strength agree,
still under God’s control,
the rolling waves live free,
where desert meets the sea.

Scotti, this feels beautifully balanced—reverent yet expansive. The repeating lines carry a calm, rhythmic assurance that mirrors the “rolling waves” themselves.

Lovely villanelle. The form holds the images perfectly, rolling the lines back to us like waves. I really enjoyed reading this.
