No Song Without Him

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. - Romans 8:1-4
Over a pounding pulse,
I hear the enemy
accusing me of being a fake,
of not living up to my Christian faith
condemning me with past wounds.
The words linger in my ears and on my soul
striking a chord with the ugly face of my old self,
echoing in a pit of noises.
Shame’s tempo chimes in
clanging to a new crescendo.
The clashing of
flesh
and Spirit.

In the midst of chaos, a still small voice
resonates a tone all its own.
God brings to remembrance
His unending love for me,
a sinner.
He knows I am His
although
I sometimes forget.
His mercy brings me to my knees
in repentance
and His sweet grace
washes me clean.
He is as faithful as always.

The great conductor of my life’s melody
calls me to focus
and in harmony
leads me in a new song,
with notes
already written
on my heart.
