He (Jacob) had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
Genesis 28:12
Terror rained grossly down, deeds so dark, conjuring hell’s lust for senseless death, I see - real time - finality of breath. Shocked to see stolen life on my feed, I feel faint like one whose gut-punched sick. How can this world be wrapped in black so thick? Angels help moms and babes climb upon golden steps as we share stories full, they live the dream revealed at Mount Bethel. Young and old, brave souls freed into God’s mighty hand where they are unafraid, we honor them, the mark on earth they made. Gathered by Love’s banner, God is near, helping us faithfully bid shalom, died not in vain, we pray their souls are home. In the end, we can know justice will triumph strong over our sorrow's shroud, having God's true promise of peace avowed. Poetry Type: Elegiac Couplet (as defined in the prompt) Written in response to this dVerse prompt.

”How can this world be wrapped in black so thick?” I do wonder. I agree with others, the last stanza is the true hope and will wash away all darkness.
